Mahmoud Hakim, founder of Eyedeas, a visual centre specialized in manufacturing safe eyewear for children, has won “the best project for 2015” in the 4th edition of the Lebanese Brilliant Awards, the first of its kind award in Lebanon organized by BLC Bank.
In this context, Mahmoud says that he didn’t expect to win the award of “the best project for 2015”, but he expected that he will reach the finals. He expressed his appreciation for the support of the private sector, namely BLC bank, who still believes in the Lebanese youth and their ambitions, and who is ready to support the entrepreneurs especially by spending a fortune on a high level award ceremony and on an advertising campaign that accompanied this event.
Encouragement and motivation
He added that the Brilliant Lebanese Award shed light on the projects and ideas of the participants. What took Mahmoud’s attention the most was that while he was receiving his award, the officials in the bank were encouraging him to participate in next year’s version. “Encouragement and motivation are the most important factors for the success of entrepreneurs, which has given me more determination to persevere.”
He considers that the jury chose his project not only because it respects the four defined standards, the financial performance of the company (30%), creativity (30%), sustainability (25%), and corporate social responsibility (15%), but because of a fifth standard which is his enthusiasm.
Mahmoud will use the financial prize to register his new patent, adding that his future plans include buying new machines for his private factory, which will reduce production costs and thus increase the production rate. Mahmoud will also form a new marketing group charged with marketing his products internationally.
At the end, Mahmoud stresses that the key to success is the person’s resolve and will. He calls upon entrepreneurs to fix their goals and to never give up no matter how bad the situation gets and regardless of the criticism.
