We all have these nights, when we go to bed, get ready to sleep, close our eyes, and it’s just when our head starts buzzing: thousands of thoughts come to our mind and every single sound becomes like a drum in our ears. Sleeping becomes impossible at that moment. Here’s what you can do to avoid being in this torturous situation.
- To many people, sleeping scenes must be prepared perfectly in order to get a peaceful night’s sleep. Before sleeping by an hour or 2, take the time to relax your body and mind, in a calm environment, to offer your head the right sleeping mood. Do not get busy with things that encourage the mind to rush for working, such as emails, exciting books, action TV series… Instead, listen to calm music and simply relax.
- If it is possible, avoid have dinner if it is later than 8 pm. Your mind will get busy with the digesting task and it will be hard for you to sleep. Moreover, avoid consuming stimulants, such as chocolate, coffee, nicotine, alcohol, sugar, etc. because they won’t help your body go to sleep.
- You surely have an idea that caffeine helps your mind stay active, but what you do not know is that it takes between 6 and 8 hours for this caffeine to become neutralized in your body. Surprised, aren’t you? It’s the time then to stop consuming caffeine afternoon to avoid affecting your sleep. If you are wondering how to get rid of all the tea, soda, chocolate and other things that contain caffeine, you can replace them with fruit tea, water, or decaffeinated drinks. Make sure you stop drinking 2 hours before going to sleep so you won’t have to wake up in the middle of your sleep to go to the toilet.
- It is true how exercising is beneficial for your mental and physical activity, and it is also true that it helps in solving stress issues and giving more energy for healthier days. However, exercising when it is nearly time to sleep can be a little disturbing; it causes the heart to beat harder and faster and increases your body temperature. Therefore, it would be very difficult to get a good night’s sleep when your body is in such situation. If you feel like exercising before sleeping, make sure you do not perform very hard and active exercises.
As for men, it is good if such exercising is making love. It helps get a deep relaxing sleep despite the efforts. The reason is the combination of the effort and the type of hormones released during the act.
