You must be wondering why you find it so hard to fall asleep easily every night! No need think more about the reason; As long as your mind is busy thinking, you won’t rest. It might be busy thinking about simple things, for example, what you will buy tomorrow from the market… While sometimes, it’s all the complicated things in your head (work, relationships, health…).
To get rid of this overthinking, follow the below tips:
- Starting with documenting your thoughts, i.e. removing them from your head by writing them down and never popping up on your mind unless when you want them to. Maybe a paper, a notebook or an application is helpful.
- Try to push your thoughts away by “throwing them aside”. Try to imagine that you’ve placed a box next to bed, where every time a thought pops up to your head, you throw it there. It doesn’t mean you’re getting rid of it; you’re just saving it for later. When it’s time for bed, then it’s time for nothing else.
- Meditation on a regular basis is considered an effective, beneficial and important exercise for your sleeping. It relaxes your mind and soul, plus, it reduces the stress of the day since it helps you focus on the breathing and gets you ready for a peaceful night and good sleep.
- It isn’t only about getting rid of the idea when you get to bed. In fact, our minds insist to think about the ideas stuck in it. Therefore, when you start having thoughts about simple things, issues or any other important subjects, just “promise your mind” that you will be thinking deeper in that thought the next day, that you will try to figure out a suitable solution for it and that you will not break your promise. Just convinced yourself that all what is needed at that time is to sleep peacefully.
Many of us do a very common mistake at night, just before going to bed; watching TV. While doing that, our mind will be busy thinking of what’s happening on the show or whatever we are watching. So consequently, all other thoughts will pop out as soon as we get to bed, and that’s why you won’t be able to sleep directly. Therefore, you must try to put aside everything, just clear your mind of all the thoughts and then go to bed. This will ensure a long peaceful sleep.
