Today, the number of the employees who work away from the office premises is increasing.
A clear understanding between the employee and the boss is highly required for better job. What needs more attention is the productivity and not the info we have in hands. However, this doesn’t work with everyone. Some employees need the structure and routine “of getting the work done”. They depend on connections, which are usually found in the office. Both, managers and employees should cooperate for the best results with fewer risks by:
1: Predictions Adjustment and co-ownership:
Employees and managers should share the same goals and expectations related to Roles, Responsibilities and Deliverables. This means adopting the precision in getting the work done, and how issues will be solved and provide one another with feedback and any other interaction possible while managing.
2: Getting involved even from afar is effective:
Technology allows you to connect with others but it can be ineffective if not used wisely. It authorize you to keep the communication paths open, but this can’t happen if you are not present, don’t interact or cooperate with others for greater benefits. Attending an essential meeting being present by listening attentively and participating, you convey a message that you are with the people handling the meeting and you are aware of every word.
3: Cooperating with the team should always be a priority:
Being always looped in the job is essential. Make your employees understand that the idea of remote work will never be the reason behind not being available to queries, or for cooperating. You can’t simply do your routine work and say that you don’t know how to work on something else or have an opinion about it. It’s all about trust; the trust that you care about this. Trustworthy employees will understand that people forget from where they are working and focus instead on their productivity.
4: Construct the perfect environment:
Inspire your employees to think of the place where they work – is it comfortable? Do they have what they need to concentrate? Are the technologies they are using up-to-date (i.e. Internet connection). The concept of “going to work” will evolve in the future. Whether working from afar or from the real office place, we need the tools to accomplish our job perfectly. It is ok and important for everyone contacting you to know that you are working from home.
5: Dexterity, Adaptability and Versatility!
Some projects require the presence of all the members of a team. On the other hand, there are managers who prefer working with the employees around them rather than having employees from afar. Analyze every situation wisely then decide what should be done for better results. Stay open to any suggestions and see what is best. Don’t hesitate in trying something new for this may surprise you.
